Roddy White vs Brandon Marshall is a common Wide Receiver draft dilemma for the fantasy owner. Who to take here?

Both of these WR’s have young QB’s although Matt Ryan has more seasoning than Chad Henne does. Both of them are unquestionably the #1 WR on their respective teams. Both of them have the ability to break the long TD as well as to catch for the first down and possession. This one is a tough choice.

Roddy White plays for a good Atlanta team with a solid running game with Michael Turner and a solid TE threat in Tony Gonzalez. He has developed a good rapport with Matt Ryan who can hopefully continue to improve in his 3rd year in the league. The knock on White is that he has a tendency to disappear at times. He can throw up some big games and even some consistency, but be prepared for the possibility of a couple of 2 catch 17 yard outings. With Atlanta’s running game possibly taking more focus, there is also some risk that the passing yardage suffers and this hurts White’s numbers as well.

Brandon Marshall started hitting his stride late in Denver last year and reminded anyone who had forgotten about his skills. Owners of Marshall hope that he can quickly gain a chemistry with Chad Henne and start putting up numbers early. He seems to have more upside than White, but also more risk as well. Marshall is playing once again in a new system and with a new quarterback. It may take some time to get a rhythm but once it happens things should be good.

In many respects it is probably a pick em choice here. It would depend on who else was on my team when it came to choosing between these two guys. In a slim, slim margin decision I will cast my vote for Marshall here, but with a reservation that I like White a lot. I just think that Marshall’s upside potential outweigh’s White’s and gives him a little more value.
