For anyone who is needing to start a less than top tier QB in week one, then Chad Henne is a good option. Facing a weak Bills defense that is likely to be victimized easily on the ground and through the air, look for Henne to try and establish chemistry with Brandon Marshall early and often. This game will help establish Miami in the division as a contender or not.

The risk here is that the ground game becomes so effective that Henne’s upside is limited, but on the other hand that may make the passing plays more effective and help sell any play-action passing plays. I don’t expect this to happen and think we will see a balanced offense as Henne and Marshall work on their timing.

Henne will be piloting one of my own teams this week as the other option Matt Ryan is facing a tough matchup. These are the types of tough decisions that will be faced each week by owners who drafted their team with a quarterback by committee approach, but the payoffs at season’s end should be worthwhile.

I am looking for Henne to end up with somewhere around 220 yards and 2 TD’s which will make me happy with his performance.

Good luck this week!

Alright, let’s get it on! We are under 24 hours from the kickoff of the NFL and fantasy football seasons. Vikings at Saints is a great way to start the season. Even without the New Orleans Super Bowl and the underlying drama of last season’s great playoff game between these two teams this would be a great fantasy football game.

Expect a nice amount of points to go on the board from both teams and start all key skill position players for both teams that are not injured unless you have a very solid matchup elsewhere.

Look for both starting QB’s Brees and Favre to have good games and start the #1 WR’s accordingly. We should see strong games from both RB’s as well so put Thomas and Peterson into action.

I wish their was more decision making involved in this opener so that there was more analysis to provide, but the NFL is making this one an easy one to start with.

Starts/Sits:
Vikings – Start Favre, Peterson, and Harvin with confidence. Start Shiancoe with confidence unless he is your 2nd TE then evaluate the matchup, but this is favorable for him. I am sitting any other Vikings WR’s until I see them play a few games.

Saints – Start Brees, Thomas, and Colston with confidence. Feel free to take a chance on a Saints secondary WR if you must, but with no bye weeks, I am thinking you will have better options. I am also sitting Shockey here unless I have a bad matchup with my other TE or he is all I have.

Since we are in a pre-season stage in the NFL season, the Fantasy Football Advice being offered at present is going to be focused primarily on draft strategy as can be seen by the most recent posts on drafting for the playoffs, QB by committee, top rookie running backs, mock draft strategy, rookie mistakes, and league startup.

I look forward to continuing to provide valuable draft advice up until the start of the regular season. Then we will move to the “Who to Start and Who to Sit” discussions which are almost more fun than who to draft.

Start your studs is a piece of basic fantasy football advice that almost everyone hands out. It makes sense, and usually works, but can be difficult to enforce proper self-discipline at times. It usually takes getting burned at least once to really let it set in. My own learning experience is recapped below.
If I may, let me take you back to 2003. It’s a nice early season game (week 5) with Indy and Tampa Bay. Tampa is coming off a Super Bowl win and we think that they have another dominating defense. I have Peyton Manning on my fantasy team. This week I am facing a tough opponent and am going to need every point I can get so what do I do? Yep, [...]

For most Fantasy Football leagues, weeks 14, 15, and 16 are the playoff weeks and will determine who goes home with the trophy (and prize money) and who has to wait until next year. Take this Fantasy Football advice and pay attention to the matchups during those weeks during the draft (and during the season). While it is true that you have to make it to the playoffs for this to matter, it can be a difference maker once you are in the playoffs.
Something I look at when deciding which player to draft when they otherwise seem equal will be to see who they play in these important playoff weeks. A player with a cupcake schedule can be added or one with a tough [...]
